The American Historical Theatre Presents
Behind Closed Doors
William Sommerfield as
America's George Washington
Imagine being a fly on the wall during a secret meeting with President George Washington, Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson, and Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton as they discuss the vital issues of our young nation: freedom of the press, national security, economic development, isolation versus entering into conflicts overseas. This one-act play pits the Federalist views of Hamilton against those of the Democratic Republicans led by Jefferson. Amidst these bitter conflicts, President Washington seeks the best possible course to ensure the success of our new nation. At the completion of this "Secret Meeting", the floor is opened to questions from the audience in a lively press conference.
