"Equal rights...the other amendment"
Taylor Williams as Alice
Well known Philadelphia actress Taylor Williams in a solo performance providing insights into the life and work of Alice Paul, author of the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution. Alice Paul recollects her struggles for suffrage, the demonstrations, the force feedings, her eventual return to graduate school where she received three law degrees, and the ultimate penning of the ERA. The program was first presented as part of the Smithsonian’s special series on WOMEN IN POLITICS. Taylor Williams, like Alice Paul is a lawyer and represents the Pennsylvania Judiciary in a broad spectrum of litigation matters, often of a constitutional nature. Alice Paul died in 1977 at the age of 94 – the ERA has not yet been ratified.
